Gemin-i

gemin-igemin-i.orgGemin-i was founded in 1997 with the aims of helping education in the developing world and providing a basis for continued aid through the promotion of awareness in UK schools. Gemin-i soon realised the huge potential that IT has to really transform the world and the way we perceive it. Gemin-i now develop innovative web-based solutions with the intention of empowering, educating and inspiring school children across the world.

  1. The capacity of innovative ICT usage to empower, enthuse, educate and bridge the digital divide.
  2. Avoiding conflict by dispelling cultural myths and stereotypes through communication.
  3. The value of young people's voices and their capacity to bring about change.
  4. The potential of multilateral online communities.
  5. Working with other organisations rather than in competition with them.
  6. The value of learning by doing.

Gemin-i in Mongolia Our latest (and biggest) project is Rafi.ki. It is a global learning community for schools to get students collaborating and sharing ideas together wherever they are in they are in the world. rafi-kirafi-kiCurrently Rafi.ki has schools in 82 countries around the globe but none in Mongolia and it's time to put this right! All the money we raise in 2008 will go towards getting children in the most remote parts of Mongolia connected to the rest of the world and using the Rafi-ki system. In 2009 those same children will be watching the progress of teams on the 2009 event. Our first project will be focused in Olgii, Bayan-Olgii, one of the most distant aimags (states) of Mongolia.
