Signing the agreementOn the 11th December 2008 Go Help, Children’s Development and Protection Foundation and International Children’s Centre Nairamdal have entered a three way agreement to work in cooperation towards a better future for the children of Mongolia.
Nairamdal was established in 1978 and operates as a children’s organisation, an agency of the National Association of Children, and a place close to many children’s hearts. It aims to provide development based programmes in shifts during the summer and winter holiday months for over 20 000 children every year. Indoor and outdoor activities and excursions at the centre and the organisation of and contribution to national and international festivals that all promote development and participation are all part of Nairamdal’s work with children of all ages. Nairamdal works with many NGOs and other government agencies such as the Youth and Children’s Centre as well as the scouts to connect children with the various programmes taking place and develop links between the organisations through skills workshops and training and tournaments. There are also several exchange programmes from a number of countries including South Korea, Russia, China, Japan and the United States that the centre aims to expand every year.
We were informed that Nairamdal did not own a fully equipped ambulance for emergencies that frequently occurred during the months when children visited. In the event of a serious injury, an ambulance from the city takes over an hour to reach Nairamdal and the same time again to get back to the hospital. Further, there are over 200 children residing in the Nairamdal area, whose parents work at the centre and around.Handing over the ambulanceAfter some consideration we’ve decided to donate the ambulance that took part in the 2008 rally, driven by Charlie and Matt, the Ambulance to Mongolia team, to Nairamdal. With this improved ambulance vehicle Nairamdal will finally be able to fulfill one of its requirements, since the economic transition period of Mongolia, to operate as an international children’s organisation, which states that an ambulance approved by international standards must be in service when receiving children at the centre at all times for their health and safety.
It has been agreed that Nairamdal will be providing 30 places in any of their summer month shifts free of charge for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, as part of our new project starting from next year. CDPF will be working with Go Help on this project to select the children and organise their trips. This agreement also entails a closer working relationship for Go Help and CDPF with Nairamdal in the future.
