Re: The eagle has landed.

Congratrations Fred and Hugh for making it to the finish in your mighty skoda. Sorry i pushed on without you guys but i had a tight schedule to meet. Along the way i had to make some tough decisions but looking back they were the right choices. After those few days with you dudes i didnt see another rally team for the rest of the trip two and a half weeks on my own. Anyway i made it and the car did me proud.

Send us a message when you get back.

All the best

Matt

48 weeks 3 days ago We got to the Mongolia border at 18:30 on the 29th. It was shut. So we camped and played frisbee in the DMZ next to the border. Got through with little trouble and took 4 Slovaks with us. The Skoda really struggled up a mountain with the extra weight but she made it, although a bit worse for wear.0

50 weeks 1 day ago Aktobe in Kazakhstan. A friendly local saw us, asked if we were lost, then led us to a really nice hotel. Got a three bedroom house for $110 with secure parking and 24hr kitchen which delivers to the room. Exhaust pipe broke. Lovely mechanics here fixed it for free. Kazakh people are amazing!0

Having arrived in Volgograd with Matt we spent the night in a hotel. We met another team, Team Ocelot and spent the evening with them and a lovely ex-pat from moscow called Mark Foote. Volgograd was wonderful an entire city a monument to fallen heroes. The statue of Mother Russia was particuarly moving and the city was full of the most beatiful women we have ever seen.  read more »

51 weeks 23 hours ago Spent 4 hours at Russian border so we have only just arrived in Volgograd. Nowhere along the way took dollars or cards so we had to sleep in the car. Woke up in a herd of cows. Might stay here a few days and see the sights. Just paid off the police, only $10!0
51 weeks 1 day ago Just left Luhansk this morning. Stopped by a police officer yesterday we think he wanted a bribe, we eventually got him to chuckle and he let us on our way. Still in convoy with matt, at russian border now1
