Its now only 11 weeks until the launch of the Mongolia Charity Rally in London and the Combe Down based team of three - Louise Chambers, Carol Atkinson and Jenny Brock - the Pink Ladies, will be competing.
They will be taking 3 weeks to drive 10,000 miles through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Mongolia: across deserts and mountains, through rivers and floodplains without the help of a support team. Apart from the other 2 teams travelling with them in convoy, they will be completely on their own as there is no set route or timescale. You will be able to follow their progress via the Mongolia rally website, which uses satellite tracking telemetry to track the teams.
Their main sponsor, Wags Firmin of Combe Down Garage has very generously donated their vehicle, a Land Rover Discovery. Once they reach Ulaan Baatar, it will be handed over to the Childrens Development Protection Fund (CDPF) and auctioned to raise money.
They also need to raise a minimum of 1000 for their chosen charity - Save The Children (STC). The rally organizers Go Help have an agreement with STC that all the money they raise will be forwarded to projects based in Mongolia.
Please help them with this mammoth task. You can support by:
- Donating to Save The Children: www.justgiving.com/teampinkladies
- Distributing this information amongst friends, put up the flyer at work etc and ask for sponsorship.
- Last, but not least, going to wave them off at the launch in central London on the 5th July. There will be a traditional Mongolian Naadam festival, complete with fermented mares milk, traditional music, Mongolian wrestling and archery.
