Grand Canyon 2
It has been almost 40 years since our last great adventure. Time enough for another one. This should be epic enough to make up for the plethora of years since the last lightning trip around the Southwest United States. London to Ulanbaatar via France, Germany, Czech Republic, the Balkans, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
We will be donating the Land Rover at the end of the rally to Go Help and the Children's Development and Protection Foundation in Ulaanbaator, Mongolia, where it will be auctioned off to raise money. We will also be raising money before we leave for Save the Children (see the handy donation button on your right!).

Submitted by alj3rd on Fri, 07/08/2009 - 12:13pm. We delivered the Disco to the Rally Representitive in Olgii last night. The final drive was about 5 miles through Olgii in reverse at dusk. Only stopped once by police on a bridge. One officer was amused, the other exasperated. Finally told us to go on, use our flashers, and keep under 10 mph. Poor nights sleep in hotel due to many barking dogs. Passed 50 to 60 dogs on the way to the airport. Olgii needs a dog catcher.
Caught a flight to Ulaanbaator this morning on Aero Mongolia. Three hour flight that left 15 minutes early and even served breakfast. Took final paperwork on the car and the keys to Dulguun. Now in the Kempenski hotel, had a hot bath, two rum and cokes. Next is to change the flights home and have a good nights sleep.
