Summer comes and goes as waves that wash upon the shore. The rush of adventure tends to elude in this age of package tours and long-haul flights. So how does 10,000 miles across some of the worlds most hostile terrain sound? Throw in a few deserts, mountain ranges and locals with eagles for pets and you'll begin to get the idea.
