Sons of Genghis

This summer Archie, Tom and Sandy are embarking on a perilous journey 10,000 miles east across Europe and Asia  from London to Mongolia.

We plan to drive a 1972 ex-army Land Rover ambulance across deserts, mountains and thousands of potholes to Ulan Bator where it will be donated to a local hospital.

- Raising Money -

As part of the Rally we will be raising £1500 for UK charity, Go Help. The projects they have supported so far have concentrated on improving the future of the next generation of Mongolians. Funding recipients have included the Ulaanbaatar Child Centre and National Rehabilitation and Education Centre for Disabled Children in Mongolia.

See www.gohelp.org.uk for more details.

 - Have an Ambulance! -

In addition to raising money for charity, we will be donating the Ambulance to a Mongolian Hospital. We hope that the 4x4 vehicle will help the access to medical help in a rugged environment where its reliability and versatility will be of great use to the local and extended community.

Taking a path trodden by Crusaders, Persians and the great Mongol empire, we plan to traverse Europe and drive into the depths of Asia finishing in the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator.

-Roads, bad roads and no roads at all-

The route will offer a smorgasbord of terrain and cultures, both mighty and meaty. On route will take us through the exotic delights of the Turkish Far East, the vast deserts of Iran and the sweeping mountain vistas of Kyrgyzstan.

After 17 countries, 10,000 miles, 6 weeks behind the wheel and numerous breakdowns, we plan to arrive in Mongolia at the end of August.
