Mongolia next summer?

Tash: mmmm, sure...

Pete: cool!  ... where's Mongolia???

and so it begins!  We've never done anything like this before, but thought it sounded like a bit o' fun!  We're planning on driving about 10,000 miles through countries we've never been, on roads the like of which we've never seen, in a vehicle we don't yet have! 

We need to raise £1000 for the Charity Rallies charity 'Go Help'.  On arrival in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia, our vehicle will be sold with the proceeds going to charity.

Tash's younger brother Phill is making the journey too and he’s managed to recruit another kiwi – Ilya, who lives in Wellington, NZ.  So with two teams, and no vehicles, we plan to depart in early July! 

Wishlist! 

We'll be needing a lot of stuff to complete this journey, and we've a non-exhaustive list below.  We'll update it as we think of other items or purchase things ourselves.  Some of this stuff is vital, some not-so vital but if you're able to help us to get hold of any items on our list we'd be most appreciative!  We can offer a space on our website for corporate sponsor logos.  Most of the equipment we take with us will be donated to charity upon reaching Mongolia.

• Vehicle - tick, we've bought a Mercedes Vito van - check it out at the vehicle's tab.
• First Aid kit - tick!
• Accident/Breakdown kit
• Fire extinguisher
• Camping meals/Army ration packs - tick, thanks to Shamrocker Adventures
• Compass & maps
• Tarpaulin - tick!
• Electric shower - tick, well, a sun shower powered by gravity - it'll do the trick!
• 3/4 guitar (for Peter to entertain/torture all those within listening distance in the wilderness)
• In car fridge/cooler box
• Quick dry outdoor clothing - tick!
• Irish/NZ trinkets - keyrings etc
• Colouring pencils/pads - to gift to children we meet along the way! - Tick!
• Environmentally friendly laundry/dish detergent
• First Aid training (for Tash - Peter's training is up-to-date but at the moment he'll need to do his own first aid if he gets injured...)
• In car printer
• Portable air compressor (apparently to drive in sand you should let your tyres down a little, but then you need someway of pumping them up again afterwards!)
