Electrical stuff... including wiring for sound... ;-)

Ha.. sleep is forr losaz, lol. Fed and washed, now wide awake again. Prob
wont last.

Right, progress report. Many small electrical jobs now tidied up, connections soldered and shrinkwrapped. I probably will rewire the
appalling alarm while I'm on. I had a special batt to starter
strap made up (special cos its 2m long) was using two joined with a nut and bolt covered in blacktape up til now ;) but its time to do it all properly. Even the stereo connections are soldered and shrinked. Speaking of stereo, I threw your speakers away. they didnt match, one didn't work and the other one says "4 ohms, 15W" on the back so I didnt even bother trying it. You now have 4x 100w 4 1/4" speakers, two in the front doorpanels and two behind the panelling in the boot area. makes the car into a 4 wheeled boombox. There is also an aux input on 1/8" stereo jack plug run to the back seat, so 3rd man can play DJ with an Ipod or laptop (or a cassette player Norm..) if really wanted. Don't have an ariel on the car - were you planning to use the radio AS a radio? While in the parts shop (getting batt lead and speakers) I also picked up something not so far on the list, or in the big pile of bits. In keeping with Andy's request to make it look like a rally car and Norm's wish not to die you now have a dash mounted 1kg dry powder fire extinguisher. You also have a 70A alternator, courtesy of a sierra ghia, its the eylet terminal type rather than the spade block lucas type, so I've attached B+ straight to the battery with a short (but heavy) cable and D+ via a short adaptor lead to the original atl plug, which is cable tied out of the way. This means that battery charging is not relying on the car's 30 year old loom, and if it all goes a bit wonky you can refit the 45A spare and plug it in without having to swear at me for chopping the plug off.

Well, what can I say but 'Like, woah!' ?

I for one am impressed Cool

I'd say I can't wait for the launch, except that I'm still putting the final touches to the vehicle passports and accompanying email, the 'post image by email' is broken (though you can blog) and I have to generate a pdf of every team's vehicle details and customs images too...

Pete.
