D-Day (D as in Diversion) -8
Submitted by Steve on Fri, 03/07/2009 - 2:26pm. 8 days to go and so much left to do so last night was spent working on the bikes. I’ve managed to source an oil cooler for my bike which is now fitted and should alleviate some of the stress on the engine while going though some of the hotter counties….if only I could fit one to myself.
The off road tyres also came last week and we managed to squeeze in some tyre changing practice as well last night. Had so much hassle finding off road tyres for the XJ as it’s not meant to go anywhere near a gravel drive let alone mud roads that can eat a BMW GS, but in then end with a little bit of fiddling I sorted that little problem; so now the bikes will be fitted with tyres that are a size bigger then normal and the front one will be a rear one fitted back to front…..so nothing to worry about there then. New off road rubber: Check the babies out.
Tyre changing: So fast it's a blurr
The sump guards still need to be made and fitted along with a power socket, spares need to be ordered including one set of road tyres and a complete service needs to be done. We’ve also been umming and rrrring about what to wear and hopefully will have that sorted by the weekend (I’m not being a girl, its important when on a bike).
Gayle is dealing with the visas brilliantly and we only have two left to get, so all is well on that front.
The ferry is booked for the Saturday night so after leaving the launch in London it’ll be a quick cruise down the M25/A3 back home, where will have a few good by drinks in the White Horse by Southsea common (Coke for us) with family and friends. If you know the pub and are around come and say hello.
I think that’s that for now, keep watching as a whole world of fun (trouble) is about to kick off in 8 days.
