So after 35 days on the road we rolled into a rather rainy Ulaanbaatar. No amount of rain could surpress our joy at making it. Especially after our rather lengthy list of mechanical issues and after driving for 18 hours a day over the last few days.

Seems like once again we got rather lucky. It took us only 4 hours to get through the Mongolian border. While we were waiting we met a Spanish team from the Mongol Rally who had been there 24 hours and were still there when we left.

The Red Knight got a wash for the first time since long before our ownership and we handed over the keys to Go Help!. Fortunately our sadness at saying good bye was more than offset by the awesome throphies we recieved. Definately a fair swap.  read more »

After a 500km round trip to a border we couldn't cross and then more suspension issues we crossed the border into Russia on Thursday. Turned out to be a surprissingly straight forward experience.

Then on to good Russian roads we were making the progress we needed to until the leaf spring went again. Turns out welding it back together wasn't the solution we hoped for. Made our way to Kemerov and found a garage. A lot of vodka, a stolen phone and some leaf springs from a soviet era car later we are back on the road.

2000km to Mongolian border by Monday...easy

A lot has happened since we last blogged!! We left the Russıan mafıa run club and departed the campsıte and headed for Bulgaria. Havıng a Brıtısh passport can be very useful sometımes!! We were ın a long queue wıth everyone beıng thoroughly checked but we flashed our passports and were waved along and had the Polıce shoutıng at the cars ın front to make way, being treated nıcely ıs fun!  read more »

We have decided to spend another night in Prague. This is not so that we can enjoy its rich culture but more so we can nurse our rather savage hangovers. A top night-Will taught large numbers of people drinking games whether they wanted to learn or not, I managed to hurt my big toe jumping from a stage and the evening ended with a bit of impromptu sight seeing as we staggered around trying to find our hostel. Lucky taxis are cheap here as we were nowhere near where we needed to be.

The plan is to be back on the road tomorrow, probably heading to Bratislava for more of the same.

Brilliant night in a lay by; we had a brilliant outdoor dinner mixed with sandstorms,lightening and German teenagers listening to heavy metal in an old dictator's white merc. Got up early and headed straight to Prague for a lovely day of traffic jams in the Old Town and finally stopped at the Old Prague Hostel leaving the Red Knight in the view of a local police station and with their men watching over it [they carry guns and batons so it's well protected!!]. First proper night out tonight with us heading to the famous Clocktower Bar Crawl......not sure if it's hugely famous as no one has heard of it but the flyer was extremely enticing, bright colours and all!!

We have journied to where the whole idea started back in Paris, however this time there were fireworks!! Like to think the fireworks were for our first leg of the journey completed without a hiccup but actually were in honour of Bastille Day. Drive down was easy with lots of banter and singing until Chris became speechless after seeing the Eiffel Tower rising majestically between the twin  domes of Sacre Coeur and finally exclaiming "How exquistitly phallic!!" ruining all patrotic notions I had in drive down. 

Finishing off a crate after a wonderful bbq, maybe tomorrow we should head East......
