By the time we got back to London in August, Carla was suffering a few mechanical woes. Nothing too serious, especially considering she had just hauled three men, a trailer and enough kit to sustain a small army in the field for a month across Europe into Russia, virtually to the borders of Central Asia and back in 24 consequetive driving days.  It was a round trip of 6,325miles; 6,825 if you take into account the miles she did in getting to the launch from Scary's via the sign writers in Bristol.  All in all she fared well.  read more »

I have spent a little bit of time in the last few days uploading photos from my first 24 hours on the road ... a week after the rally started ... and as some might say "oh hum .. yah de yah de yah" holiday pic boredom .. but I wanted to redress the balance a bit ... I have read from other team blogs (both from Mongolia Charity Rally and Mongol Rally teams) about poor experiences in Poland and Ukraine and even Russia ... and that makes sense ... for most teams these countries are to be endured, to be passed through as fast as possible en route to the Golden Fleece that is Mongolia.... I didn't make it to Mongolia this time ... and consequently the places we did visit take on a new significance.     read more »

Back in dear old Blighty!

Blagged our way into the last room in town in Caen..... visiting the Normandy beaches tomorrow ... 

Good run down the autobahn today, stopped for night just outside Dortmund. Nurburgring tomorrow.  Still attracting attention everywhere we go!
