The Lost Crusade
A crusade is a "remedial enterprise undertaken with zeal and enthusiasm" according to Merriam-Webster.
You might ask, "What are you going to remediate?" Our world views, I suppose. This will be a grand experiential-learning trip.
We've got a vehicle and we're working on the visas. This could be the beginning of what may become an international disaster on wheels - but who says we won't have the time of our lives?

Imaginery Finish Line, UB, Mongolia!
by Randall Tate on 23 Aug 2009 at 23:24 It was a bit anticlimatic to to role into UB after driving 8300 miles over 30 days and not have some ticker tape fall through the sky, but we did our best to celebrate at the Oasis Guesthouse with a meal of pasta, mystery sauce, pickles, bread, beer and forgotten delicacy, butter.
The import process yesterday morning drained us a bit as our paperwork did circles around and around an incredible cast of seriously unprofessional customs "agents." There was the mom who's kid wouldn't let her use the computer, the drunk, the pervert, the swine flu screener girl asleep at her desk and the head honcho with her terrier chained to the wall behind her. The first hour was spent proving to three separte people that the Jeep ran on LPG. By the end we had stamps on top of stamps on top of stamps. After five hours of fun, we paid a tribute to the three Mongolia Charity Rally vehicles left deserted in the border parking lot, drove out and were instantly blown away by the beauty that is Mongolia. Can't wait to start exploring. We might just take it a bit slower from here on out.
Mobile is officially dead here so this might be the last post. We plan to spend the next week or so checking out the area around UB, climbing and not driving.
Thank you to everyone for following along and making this trip possible.
And a special thank you to Dave Howard and Victoria Catchpole. Without Dave we would have never made it out of England. He is the man that picked up the Jheepo, stored it and fixed it on his own time. Because of his hard work, she run like a dream for over 8000 miles. You are truly a miracle worker Dave!
Victoria put us up in London, gave us some tools and made communication possible by supplying the phone and topping it up when we credit ran low. Thanks Vic!
The Lost Crusade signing out from Mongolia. Mission accomplished.
