Two legs good -- four wheels Baatar

This is modern retirement. Voluntary redundancy put an end to a life sentence on the BBC radio newsdesk, and presented an opportunity to see what life was like on the outside. We thought it'd be good to do something useful; unfortunately we couldn't think what, so hit on the idea of buying an old van and driving it eight-thousand miles. Well, it beats playing golf (but what doesn't?)  In the process, we're raising money for Save The Children - here's the link to our Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/roadtomongolia

And if you don't want to go as far as Mongolia to stay in a yurt, try this link: www.yurt-holidays.co.uk

And if you want to read the book of our adventure, it's available here

Van's new role

Our former water board van has gone to its new owners and will spend the rest of its life distributing school books to remote areas of Mongolia. The people who do this good work are a  young couple, Jonathan, who's from Oregon, and Marielle who comes from northern France. If anyone is interested in seeing what they're up to this is their website,  www.edurelief.org.

Good luck to them both.
